Hardware

Apple iPhone 17 Pro, iOS 26.5, 256 GB

The cinema-grade 4K video and 8x optical zoom won me over, and this is now my go-to camera. The iPhone’s dual capture mode lets you record front and back cameras at the same time, and it doesn’t overheat no matter how long I’m rolling. For sound, 1 pair this with OS Tech’s Dual Wireless Lavalier Microphone for iPhone & Android.

Canon EOS R50 Mirrorless Camera

Alternate camera used less often simply because it’s bulkier than the iPhone. Paired with the Rode Wireless Go II microphone system for recording audio.

Insta360 Flow 2 Pro

Insta360 Flow 2 Pro Gimbal

The iPhone 17 Pro has great stabilization but this gimbal adds a layer of smoothness when I’m interviewing someone on the street in a “walk and talk”. The built-in selfie stick, tripod, and 10-hour battery mean I can just grab it and go.

Software

My current editing suite for professional-grade video, audio, and color correction.

My favorite open-source multi-track audio editor, for editing and mixing music and recorded sound.

My go-to for rapid layout design, social assets, and AI-powered design tools like background removal, erasure, and animation.

AI Tools

Below are the go-to’s, but I use many others, plus sound effects, public domain music, and found audio.

For creating detailed visuals (including from data), turning long-form video content into shorter, diverse formats, creating infographics, brainstorming ideas and generating code to bring them to life.

Like Figma but powered by AI and vibe design, this tool is great for exploring ideas quickly based on what I hope to achieve or want the audience to feel, or what’s inspiring me at the moment. Stitch’s voice capability lets me speak directly to the canvas, asking it to change colors, rearrange elements, or critique my design out loud. I use it to create interactive prototypes and for design inspiration.

To create incredibly realistic, stylized image generation for social media graphics, thumbnails, and visual brainstorming.

Source-grounded AI-powered research partner; upload PDFs, websites, videos, audio files and more, get insights, convert to podcast-style audio overview, infographic, quiz, mind map, and more.

AI-powered search and fact-checking to support accurate, fast research. Backed with citations.

Long-form content refinement, research distillation, and AI-generated games coded on the platform.
